Hello Fall – Beef Council Cookbook, Riceland Rice and a MYSTERY surprise Giveaway

This giveaway is closed. Congrats to Lyndi and Adriana!

Since coming to Arkansas seventeen (SEVENTEEN???) years ago, I have really grown to love this place and have grown to appreciate the local agriculture. I can recall driving by a field about 12 years ago and saying to my husband, “Those snaky looking things in that field look cool.” He looked at me with a bit of horror, a bit of wonderment and a touch of pity and asked, “Are you referring to the rice levees?”

Needless to say I have come a long way and now find myself participating in the farm community tradition of evaluating other farmers fields. I can discuss the quality of soil when the fields are disced up in the spring. I can tell whether a particular rice or soybean field has been sprayed based on the amount of scrubby weeds growing. I was genuinely excited when a Dumas, Arkansas farmer verified he had gotten over 100 bushels of soybeans per acre in August. I’ll also come out and admit that I have even caught myself listening to the farm report on the radio from time to time.

Todays’ giveaway includes two really cool products, a cookbook from the Arkansas Beef Council and a sample bag of Arkansas’ own Riceland Rice. Each winner (there will be 2) will also receive a MYSTERY surprise in their gift package!

  1. A few years ago I found an amazing recipe for apple cider pumpkin beef stew. Trust me it’s so good and just right for the fall season and ALL THE PUMPKINS! And my most favorite rice dish would have to be rice pudding. Oh now I’m hungry!

I’ve been on vaca the past two weeks and have just now “plugged” back in and noticed your giveaways. Good job, Julie!
